I go by alot of names but originally Jane Kim, and I've always been a visual thinker. Books have always taken me away to different worlds, as well my travels to countries such as Korea, England, and Mexico. I strive to evoke thought in my fine art pieces and prefer the fantastic to reality. I was born and raised around Philadelphia, PA and moved to the west coast to stimulate my curious mind. The nomadic lifestyle helped nurture my artistic endeavors. Dreams are my focus as well as the raw and gritty. I acquired a BA in photojournalism at Temple University and continued a fine arts education at Moore College of Art and Design and Laguna College of Art and Design. I have shown in galleries such as the Hangar 1012 and the Hive in Los Angeles. I discovered that capturing the story wasn't enough but creating one through art was even more satisfying. Where the camera records what exists, my hands can push and pull what comes out of my mind. Free thought is so important to me, which makes me cringe at the educational system's tendencies toward cookie cutter thinking and styles of artwork. If anything, I would encourage self-education and seeking knowledge through people you look up to. My influences are Zeitgeist (film), Total Freedom by Krishnamurti, Neil Gaiman, D.H. Lawrence, Basquiat, Buddhism, Castaneda, fairy tales, horror, traveling, Van Gogh, Salvador Dali, Jim Warren, Michael Whelan, and endless music. I strive to walk the eternal journey of improving my art and essentially, in a sense, myself.
